Hero Academia- Analyzing one scene

The work of fiction that I will be discussing is a TV show called “Hero Academia” which is a about a young boy called Midoriya wanting to becoming a hero. The problem is that he is in the twenty-percent of the population that doesn’t gain these powers called “quirks”. Yet this does not stop him and he acts out a very heroic scene after receiving powers from the number 1 hero, All Might. In this scene Midoriya is taking the time entrance exam to the number 1 hero high school in the world called U.A High. The composers timed putting Midoriya’s powers out there because we were all excited to see what he could do if he had the same power as the number one hero. As everyone in this scene is attacking the robots in the entrance exam, we see that Midoriya has still yet to attack a robot as time is running out. He’s constantly looking at the time and the countdown is on, as they have 15 minutes. At the 10-minute mark Midoriya is still looking for robots to destroy and says “I have to pass this exam I only have 10 minutes left on the clock” and of course we’re all routing for him. All the other student are taking out the robots one by one yet Midoriya is down to 2 minutes. Important to note: there are 4 different types of robots with worth from 0-3 points. The goal was to take down as any as possible. The composers used audiences excitement and anxiety to keep the scene entertaining and unexpected. At the very last moment where Midoriya has only 1-minute on the clock, the 0-point robot comes out and it is gigantic. All the students run away because it has no point value, yet one student was stuck because she becomes nauseous when she uses her powers too much. As one of the other students were running away he thought to himself “Do I stay and help or keep moving” “Is he really going to take that monster out?”. He decided to run away and later regretted it but this helped the composers show what kind of hero Midoriya. This was really effective because we see the difference in the true intent of a true hero when it comes down to it. Midoriya acts before he can think and showed off his amazing power by defeating the robot in one punch and saving the girl, but he ultimately hurts his arms to the point of it being useless (not to worry recovery girl fixed it right up). After all that he still earned no points for the fighting portion of the exam and the disappointment the audience felt was too real but the composers used this to bring the audience back to life when he actually got into U.A using rescue points! Our protagonists efforts paid off and he got into U.A. The fighting scene was just incredibly written and the composers made sure that we would all be able to feel the emotions that the protagonist Midoriya felt. The scene was written carefully enough to keep the audience on edge with every detail as well. It was definitely well written and effective. Including different elements, an almost impossible obstacle, proof of power, and emotional toying.
