Nigeria : A collection of celebratory poems

The Writer

Collections of thoughts flowing within the media,

Sanse wants to write even more information than an encyclopedia,

He does with his “journalism” of multimedia,

His purpose is to write about the truth, not transmedia.

It is time for him to write another inspiring story,

So he does his research on a current events in the African category,

Yet at first he did not know much about Africa due to the west’s glory,

He picks the wondrous country of Nigeria and makes an online news article that is celebratory.

He knows fully well how impactful words are heard,

And decided to write about a country called Nigeria after being stirred,

Its beauty is so unchallenged that one might just take a tour

Nigeria is a well-known country on the continent that wouldn’t be obscured,

Another new article that made the country look simply remarkable,

It encourages people to write even more outstanding articles,

We should spread more news about such a fabulous country,

And just maybe make a change that would be optimal.

The Teacher

Rebecca has enjoys learning and teaching about different areas,

And read a lovely online news article about the country of Nigeria,

She thinks of Education as a treasure,

And writes a lesson plan on the area of Nigeria,

She thinks over and over about it,

And knows her studious students have an eager group spirit,

And begins teaching different features of the continent such as its many beautiful creatures,

Teaching this to her students gives her more joy than she can admit,

Because she is learning much about the continent herself as she is an achiever,

She knows herself to be education believer,

And proud to spread the existence of Nigeria to her students,

And encourages her students to spread this knowledge to others with a learning fever.

An article made just yesterday morning about the African country and its golden glow,

Said things onemost would never expect to even know,

Such as the culture of its people,

She was ready to teach more about this continent make her students know it was prominent

The Student

Anastasia is learning about Africa with its plenty natives,

She’s learning to be more creative,

Nigeria, Kenya, and Ghana are some she can discuss in different places,

That she learned about and wants to live.

Her teacher admits she is no expert,

And only recently became interested because of a certain perpective,

Her parents are learning from their child,

Which is new because her mom is a woman who teaches amazing lectures.

Anastasia is more well-rounded in her overall knowledge,

And will surely remember this information even in college,

She knew the country as more than a place of typical starvation

And would someday make an article that would be acknowledge,

Children marvel at new discoveries to attain,

Wanting to travel to places far and wide just like the rain,

She is an example of what happen when we teach about the good of Africa,

Because teaching is the key to cursed African perspective chain.

The Professor

The Professor is full of knowledge as always,

Her daughter is young and going through a faze,

It helps her realize how much she does not know,

She is learning more about Africa from her daughter and is amazed

She teaches various courses,

All with many different sources,

She sees the bias in an article about Africa,

And understood this is where a teacher reinforces.

She talked to her coworkers and asked them various questions,

But they told her they did not know much except its oppression,

This was the problem,

How can we as parents teach our children if we disregard these teaching sessions?

She began to educate herself and then her fellow associates,

Trying the provide some change in the perspective that dictates,

The impact of one person is important,

Opening new opportunities within this country’s gates.

The Coworker

Annie has many coworker full of life,

She works at the university but can also say she’s a full time wife,

A professor came in and started telling about Africa and she realized something important,

She knew little of the country and that cut her like a knife,

You see Annie is also a fulltime blogger that travels everywhere,

She was visited plenty of countries and continents but thought Africa was a nightmare,

She did her research and booked a flight,

There was no way she was going to leave this space in her blog bare

She landed and was a little frightened,

This made her senses very heightened,

She looked around the country of Zimbabwe,

And was overly enlightened,

She doesn’t know how she missed a continent so amazing,

The place was so full of life it was blazing,

This doesn’t mean she didn’t see the bad and knew every country had its problems,

The country isn’t bad at all so all the bad western articles was just hazing,

She wrote about the country including good and bad,

She knew people would read her blog since she is pretty rad,

Her blog hit a million views with just that one trip,

All it takes is one person to teach another even in undergrad.

Free Verse

Living in Nigeria where their culture thrives,

and full of diversity,

One that inherited others from its past’s transgressions,

To transform them into something new,

Living in Nigeria where their culture thrives,

hosting temporary and contemporary art forms of different types,

from the naturalistic statues produced at Ife to the bronzes made for the king of Benin,

Their work is full of talent,

Living in Nigeria where their culture thrives,

People of different types and colors,

People of different languages and themes,

People who agree that their country is to be,

Dominating in settle engagement,

For those of us who aren’t apart,

A Place

Let’s talk about a place,

One that preserves its traditions,

With its people celebrating their customs with full ferocity,

With masks, and weaving, and metal work,

Honoring their ancestors and gods,

Let’s talk about a place,

Where the Igbos, and Hausa/Fulani, and Yorubas live,

Although their paths may differ,

Their nationality is strong

Lets talk about Nigeria

An Ode from the Giraffe

The vast lands in Nigeria,

The blue-red hues,

It approaches slowly,

Inhabits the lands,

An authority so great,

The lions do not dare approach such a prey,

It reaches high,

Safe in the grassy lands with its large trees,

His majestic neck reaches,

A creature of pure admiration,

An Ode from the White Rhino

The sleek skin,

Rare to find,

He roams his country,

One of Nigeria's many creatures,

A rare find,

An found in one country,

He travels the country,

A rare child of the earth

An Ode for the Wildlife

An ecosystem of cohabitation,

All the creatures gather, live, and die

An infinite cycle of life and death,

When lion cubs stray from their mother but

Find their way back to her,

The country’s’ warm summer afternoon,

Alert to the change within the air,

Alert to the constant danger,

Yet still the cross the country and fight to survive every day,

The animals in Nigeria are majestic creatures

An Ode to Nigeria

Zebras roam your land,

Rushing from the interior is a waterfall,

so loud yet so majestic,

Creatures of all kinds lives

and swims within the its waters,

People arrive far and wide to explore this its majestic presence,

A culture with unique presence

Its love

I am a single landmass amongst the many others,

I harbor the people, the animals, the trees,

I thrive because of the many happenings among me,

I am a piece of you,

A piece of your pride,

A piece of your history,

And a piece of your future,

Love courses through me,

Life lives because of me,

Listen to the people who need a home to call their own,

Listen to the animals who raise their young,

Listen to my winds who watch you close

A triad of Imagery: 3 Poem Collection

The soil

so life courses though

soil,

feet touch its top,

slippery water sinks

between its cracks,

plants bursts through from its

inner,

life ends within its dark brown

walls

Soothing Life

green and yellow savannahs,

leaping yellow lions,

Black on white,

Zebras,

The wind whistling above the lavish green trees,

Greeting the purple tongue of the

Giraffe,

Life is full, yet soft, yet loud

Sunkiss

The reds, oranges, and yellows of the

Sunset,

Shimmering shades of skin,

Colorful laughter of people,

Soft wet tears of sorrow down young faces,

A gleaming flag floating above the horizon,

A mother kissing her child,

A daughter holder her brother

Another shining future

2 Elegy’s from the Dead

Hello there,

Hello to the children being born anew,

Welcome from Zimbabwe,

You are here though our sacrifices,

And here you are writing a lament for the dead,

Hello sweet child of sun-kissed skin,

Your ancestors fought for your birth within this country,

We welcome you to your new home,

A country of many prizes,

A country to be proud of,

Hello there,

We welcome you from the heavens

Thank you

Thank you to the young bright minds created from this country,

Thank you to all the people proud of your heritage,

Thank you because we the dead can be proud again,

Thank you because we the people can grow again,

Thank you for believing in a country once pitiful but now popular,

Thank you for loving this country,

Thank you for all your continuous efforts,

Thank you to those of you that

Ottava rima

In a vast land with ancient history,

There is a country with a flag,

and it really wasn’t a mystery,

unless you were Guy Montag,

it is becoming very popular which is a victory,

One would never call it a drag,

They unveil their history and culture to the younger generations,

And we as bystanders can either join or make observations

The Sestina of Growth

It has become real.

A dream we cannot shake,

From a dream to the reality of this country,

And after so many years we realize our mistake,

As if there’s this gentle ripple,

That touches us all, over and over,

Time has revealed the importance of this country,

Yes it was real, yet its so slow and a

                                         gentle shake,

It ripples through us again but as long as time goes on it will never be over.
