1,000 Word Processing Report

The name of narrative is “Nigeria: A collection of Celebratory Poems”. The requirements for writing a poetry narrative was to write at least 20 poems and have at least 8-lines per poem; both of these requirements were completed when writing the narrative. The intended audience for the narrative was readers of poetry but also for people who loves to read as well. To make sure the narrative was appealing to the audience, there were several different types of poems made, that way there was more diversity to it. Some of the poem types used were Ode’s, free verse, Imagery, and more.

The promotional advertisements that were built for this project were an online poster and pamphlet. Microsoft word was used to create these two and design them accordingly to the project to make it more professional. The project changed from conception to completion as the days went on and it was becoming more established with each new post, followers, and like.

The social media platforms used for this narrative was a Twitter account and an Instagram account. These were chosen because it was easier to find people who could potentially be the audience for the project as well as express and promote with simplicity rather than complicated measures. The first plan was to post interesting quotes that promoted the narrative easily, making the post have a different set of pictures and an interesting caption, as well as the occasional hashtag. The next plan to draw attention to the narrative was first to find others who were into poetry and reading on these websites. Once they are followed a link usually appears that shows other potential people who are alike to the person one has followed. This created the perfect opportunity to follow those people and if they liked what they saw on the social media accounts, they would follow back and read the narrative. Some of the hashtags used were the words poetry, reading, and Nigeria. So that it attracted the attention of those within that group or interested in those groups. The Instagram platform was the most successful because it gained the most followers and likes out of the two accounts. Also, it was more likely for prospective audience members to look at the Instagram profile rather than the twitter due to Instagram being a picture based social media platform unlike the twitter. In the Instagram account, the plan was to follow at least 5-10 people per day to gain more attention. The twitter account the plan was to start following people from the class to have a following base and then begin to follow 5-10 people per day like the Instagram account. The total number of posts for the Instagram was 50 and the twitter was 100. The audience did not respond verbally much but did occasionally like a tweet for the twitter. The Instagram did a much better job because many people did like the Instagram posts, about 30 per posts. Capturing their attention was the difficult part because there had to be steps put in place, such as finding pictures (and of course giving credit) that would grab their attention and make them like the overall theme of the website. As well as staying as an active account and making sure to like others tweets and posts.

Finding time for this project was not difficult, it was a matter of knowing what to post and how to make that post engaging with every word. Usually dedication to the project would be spend everyday after 1pm, posting several times. The composition process was different because students were able to choose what type of narrative they would have liked to write, rather than sticking to the outline of the same narrative for everyone. It also had fewer rules and this gave the student freer creative style and thinking for their narratives. When writing for project 2, it was more researched based and had less creative style thinking and was a completely different mindset to be in. Guidelines were important and had to be strictly monitored. For project 3, as I’ve said, it was more open creativity and although there were guidelines, they were not as strict as the other projects. Project 3’s process consisted more of an “its up to you” thought process. So, we were freer to write about what we wanted and feel more in tuned with it. The most challenging aspect of composing project two was the strict guidelines that had to be adhered to with the bibliography. The most challenging aspect for composing project 3 was ensuring that your words were enticing to your audience but also able to be more flexible than the other projects. Even though we had lots of creative freedom, it was also difficult in knowing when it too much or too far because there weren’t many guidelines.

The advice I would have given to myself for composing project two was to double check the paper constantly, double check each of the sources, and especially to make sure I am adhering to the guidelines. Read the rules to paper again and if I did not understand then setup a video conference. Advice I would have given to myself for writing project 3 was to not limit myself just because it was a project, see it as my own work and use it to my advantage that I had a narrative I was comfortable with. As well as post more, diverse quotes and images for both of the social media accounts because they are very useful when you can capture the audience’s attention from early. Writing both of these projects were not easy but project 3 was a great way to make a more entertaining portfolio for our websites. Another piece of advice I would have given for project 3 was to branch out on more types of poems to learn more about what is put there, even though it was not easy to write the sestina, I had fun doing it and was proud to finish it even though I was confused on how to write it.
